Preparation of a National Spatial Plan

 

PROJECT PROFILE

This project involves collecting accurate and continuously updated mapping of land use patterns in Kenya and of tracking developments.

This project will also entail undertaking both livestock and wildlife censuses and Zoning of land rural and urban areas currently unmapped.

PROJECT PROGRESS

In order to collect information on urban land use/cover, Eldoret municipality was mapped using high resolution quick-bird imagery so as to update the existing spatial information on land use in the municipality, and develop an urban land use information system. About 7,742 hectares have been mapped and land use/cover identified.
 

OBJECTIVE

To collect accurate, reliable and continuously updating mapping of land use patterns and track developments.

To undertake both livestock and wildlife census and zoning of land in rural and urban areas currently unmapped
